Winning the Earthquake ~ How Jeannette Rankin Defied All Odds to Become the First Woman in Congress (by Larissa Rinehart)
What an amazing Jeannette Rankin was. I had never heard of her before picking up this book and getting to learn about her life. The author has done a phenomenal amount of research into the time period in which Jeannette lived, the political climate, the male-dominated world, and the strength of so many women who fought for women's right to vote and pave the way for their many future achievements. A very interesting and enlightening read. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’

The Sisters of Book Row (by Shelley Noble)
I really enjoy historical fiction and especially when it revolves around books. This book took a while to have me invested in the story. I enjoyed reading about the three sisters, Olivia, Daphne, and Celia. Observing them running a bookstore in the early 1900s ... a time when men would have been in that role. Each sister has a focus and it was interesting to explore their lives and the secrets they kept from each other. Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow Paperbacks for

The Boxcar Librarian (by Brianna Labuskes)
I enjoy reading historical fiction books and one that deals with books appeal to me. However, this book was so difficult to get into. The different characters and time periods were confusing. I did enjoy reading about the WPA (Works Progress Administration). A disorganized attempt to share multiple viewpoints and storylines. It just did not work for me. Though I have enjoyed previous books by the author, so I will read future books by her. Thank you to NetGalley and William M

The Filling Station (by Vanessa Miller)
I looked forward to reading The Filling Station by Vanessa Miller. However, it took all I had to trudge through the pages to get to the end. This is definitely a difficult read as you experience the racial tension and prejudices that were so prevalent at that period of time. The Tulsa Race Massacre was a horrendous incident. But while a story I struggled to get through, watching Margaret and Evelyn wrestled to cope with the trauma of the massacre was emotionally challenging.
