Christina Suzann Nelson has done it again! What a great book about relationships and life’s unexpected moments. A dual timeline book with the past being told only through the voice of Heather, a child who went missing 36 years earlier. It was easy to process the back-and-forth of the timelines. There were so many emotions explored through the pages … from divorce, child custody issues, infidelity, loss, grief, faith. The author does a wonderful job of helping you navigate the lives of the primary characters. From Dora’s inability to believe her daughter is dead and inability to deal with grief to Faith's struggles with the divorce and giving up time over the summer with her daughters to Faith’s efforts to help Dora and her family find closure … you are on a journey of pain and clues that will have you guessing what happened to Heather. The chapters are short so you will find yourself flying through the book quickly. And for those of us who are old enough to remember Baby Soft perfume and all the fads of the past will smile. I could get a whiff of the perfume when I read about it! Just make sure you have a box or two of tissues around to absorb all the tears you will shed by the end of the book. They were dripping down my face as I experienced the shocking secrets and devastating actions of the people who were part of Heather’s life. Thank you to NetGalley and Brittany House Publishers for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
