I have enjoyed several of the books by Mandy Robotham which I have read in the past. However, this one didn’t appeal to me as much as her earlier books. I love historical fiction books and especially those that occur during WWII. I don’t know if I am just overloaded from reading books in that genre, but I think I need to take a break. One of the things I was surprised about was that a pianist was an individual who sent codes through the radio. I had assumed it was an actual pianist who had been selected to play with the orchestras that were used at the concentration camps. That was a nice surprise because I learned something new about that time period. The two main characters were really well developed and I did enjoy getting a view into their lives. But I did not connect with them and the storyline enough to keep me invested in the book. However, there are plenty of more positive reviews, so I encourage you to give it a chance if you are interested in WWII historical fiction books.
