The Soldier's Daughter ~ Vineyards of War #2 (by Fiona McIntosh)

I love reading historical fiction books and especially those that take place during WWII. I am not sure what I expected when I first opened the book and began to get lost in the pages. But it is about so much more than “the soldier’s daughter.” You will journey from Scotland to Australia to England to France and discover a story of love, courage, devotion, and determination. The characters are brought to life and you will be invested in their lives and the people who help them become the people they are today. I enjoyed the information shared about whiskey-making. Violet was an amazing woman and her grit and determination were admirable. I enjoyed getting to know her father, Charlie. He was a wonderful person and a great example of a father. I want to go back and read the first book in the series, The Champagne War, to discover more about him. A wonderful story that will sweep you away with the people, the scenery, and the sense of legacy.
