The Secret Pianist (by Andie Newton)

I love historical fiction books set during WWII. This one was a delightful exploration into the use of messenger pigeons to aid in the fight against Hitler’s reign of terror. The sisters, Martine, Simone, and Gabriella are three sisters who are willing to work behind the scenes to help end the war. There were so many moments when the sisters thought they would be arrested and you were sitting on the edge of your seat until they realized their subterfuge had escaped discovery. There were some surprises of people who were not who you thought they were. I continue to be amazed at the lengths people were willing to go to thwart the efforts of Hitler and the men who were evil personified. This is definitely one to put on your to-be-read list if you are a fan of books in the WWII historical fiction genre. A story of courage, fortitude, resistance, sacrifice, survival, and hope for the future.
