The House on Mountain Laurel Lane (by Eileen Goudge)

This was an emotional read that takes you on a journey of love, loss, family, and community. Experiencing life with Jo and her two daughters as they navigate their days after the death of Jo’s husband and the girls’ father. During moments of flashback memories, you will comprehend how his death affects each of them deep and significant way. The people who are a part of their past and those who become part of their new life are so loving and supportive. It was uplifting to see the sense of community surround them. Meeting Hank and getting to know him was life changing for this family. Oh that we could all have a Hank in our lives! While my expectations of how things would turn out came true, it was still a heartwarming time spent in the pages. A touching story that focuses on how important friends are in our lives. And while the pain of loss may never go away entirely, you should cherish the precious memories as you open up your heart to hope and a new chance for love.
