The Flower Sisters (by Michelle Collins Anderson)

I enjoy reading historical fiction books. This one was a different focus than those I typically read. Based in 1928 and 1978, you will get lost in the stories of the characters and how an unfortunate incident changes the lives of so many young people in the earlier time frame. Moving forward to the later time period, you get to meet Daisy Flowers. She is a fifteen-year-old who is a dynamite young lady who is determined to pave her own way and make this unanticipated summer with her grandmother acceptable. What happens is a story of family dynamics, secrets, emotions, resilience, redemption, and the revelation of truth. Based on a true event that happened in the author’s hometown, you will get lost in the pages of the Flower sisters and the people who are left to carry on after this tragedy. You will be drawn into the story and will be flipping through the pages quickly to see what secret will be revealed next. Definitely one to put on your to-be-read list!
