The Child Who Lived (by Ellie Midwood)

I am a huge fan of historical fiction and especially those that take place during WWII. The dual timeline aspect is also a plus for me. I have learned to be a little pickier about the books I read from that genre. So the fact that this one jumped out at me and that I gave it a 5-star rating, speaks highly to what a wonderful job the author did. This was an emotional read and the graphic details of Lore’s time in Ravensbrook and Mauthausen concentration camps. Her strength, determination, integrity, and sacrifice are admirable. As you travel back and forth through time, you will get glimpses of the amazing woman Lore was as she testifies in court when her husband sues her for divorce. I continue to be in awe of the people who were willing to sacrifice so much in the face of such horrendous acts during Hitler’s reign of terror. This is definitely one to put at the top of your to-be-read list. It will have you emotionally invested in the story and the characters as you experience the cruelty the Nazi regime rained down on so many people.

Every Precious and Fragile Thing (by Barbara Davis)

I have enjoyed previous books by the author, Barbara Davis. However, this one just did not do it for me. I did not like the character … at all!! … and the story did not pull me in and have me invested

After Paris (by Mary Ellen Taylor)

This book has a lot of very positive reviews. So let me preface mine by suggesting you read it to see if it appeals to you. This was just a horrible read for me. It was a lot of smut and explicit sexu
