The Banned Books of Berlin (by Daisy Wood)

I love reading historical fiction books, especially if they are set during WWII. And it is even more appealing when there is a dual timeline involved. The characters in this wonderful read are so well developed and I was drawn into the story and their lives from the first page. To be presented with the fact that so many books were burned during Hitler’s reign of power is horrendous. Knowing that there were people like Freya who were willing to fight against the corruption of the Nazi party is inspiring. Both timelines are woven together into a story that encompasses heartbreak, secrets, cyber bullying, family and relationships, bravery and courage, determination, and sacrifice. This is a book that will keep your attention and you will find it difficult to put it down once you open the cover and start getting lost in the story of Freya and Maddie’s lives.
