The Ark and the Dove (by Jill Eileen Smith)

While I did appreciate reading about the story of Noah and his wife, Zara, as they live a life committed entirely on God, the characters fell flat for me. In listening to the audiobook version even, there was no oomph in their speaking. While I knew that Noah was criticized and made fun of for building the ark, I never thought about the possibility of sabotage. The hearts of Noah and his family as they struggled to continue their daily walk with God and concern for those that they were told would be left behind once the rains came was heartbreaking. I think you should approach the reading of this as Bible Fiction. It is a story that has the basis in fact, but is embellished with fictional aspects to actually make it long enough to be a book. Not one of my favorite reads this year, but some might find it appealing.
