Night of a Thousand Darlas (by Brooke Abrams)

This was an interesting read as you experience three adult brother and sisters attending their still-living mother’s funeral. A quick and tender book that will take you on a trip through family dynamics from the relationship with the mother, the siblings, the primary character, Liza and her daughter, and Liza’s first love, Scotty. Lots of tender moments and healing of some of the difficulties experienced while growing up in Hollywood. The characters are well developed, but you basically get just the point of view from Liza rather than her mother, siblings, daughter, etc. But the audiobook version was done really well and I found myself not wanting to stop listening when I got to wherever I was headed in my car and had to stop the book to deal with real life. While I am not a romance genre fan, this one had much more depth than just a typical romance book.  The story of family made it a touching story into which to get invested.
