Mrs. Porter Calling ~ Emmy Lake Chronicles #3 (by A. J. Pearce)

I have enjoyed the books in the Emmy Lake Chronicles series and this one was a good addition. I have fallen in love with the characters at Women’s Friend magazine. I love getting to know Emily and her friends, Bunty and Thelma more. The war (WWII) is still going on and affects their lives in many ways. The addition of the new editor, Mrs. Porter, throws a wrench in things and has you cheering on the staff at the magazine and hoping they can pull off an attempt to rescue the periodical. Once again you will get a taste of life during WWII and what a toll it takes on the lives of the people on a day-to-day basis. There is one extremely sad section that had me tearing up. But the end is worth getting through the tears. I strongly encourage you to read the first two books in the series before this one. The character and story development will help immensely as you get lost in the pages with Emmy Lake. Thank you to NetGalley and Scribner for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
