Letters from Strangers (by Susan Walter)

While this book read like a YA one, I still enjoyed aspects of it. There are a lot of triggers that you need to be aware of before opening the cover and reading the first word. They are adultery, body shaming, homosexuality, giving a child up for adoption, eating disorders, unplanned pregnancy, infertility, and suicide. Yet these are all handled in a delicate way by the author. I was not sure I was going to enjoy this book when I first started reading it, but I was pulled into the lives of Jane and Adam. And just as you think things are going to work out one way, there was a twist and I sat here with a shocked look on my face. And, I have to say, the twist brought about a much better ending. This is a story of family, relationships, mistakes, insecurity, and a web of lies that entangles many lives. I liked getting the two different points of view of the primary characters — Jane and Adam. At times heartbreaking, there were also moments that had you encouraged at the way the characters matured and began to navigate their lives through a different sense of self.
