Judge Stone (by James Patterson and Viola Davis)

What an emotional read! James Patterson and Viola Davis have teamed up to bring a highly charged thriller. This story pulled me in from the beginning and I did not want to stop reading it until the end. I loved Judge Stone and the person she represented as a judge and member of the community. Her no-nonsense approach to dealing with people in her courtroom was admirable. Her willingness to care that true judgment was carried out instead of caving in to the pressure of those in power or the ones in the community with strong opinions was encouraging. I enjoyed experiencing the different points of view. Meeting the doctor, Bria, and 13-year-old Nova will have your heart breaking as they live through traumatic experiences. This book is filled with judgments, family dynamics, courtroom drama, threats, violence, abortion, racial prejudices. Not a light easy read but one that will have you flipping through the pages as quickly as possible to discover how not only the verdict of the court case, but what the future will bring for Mary, Bria, and Nova. Be prepared for an emotional journey through the pages. It is definitely one to put at the top of your to-be-read list!

Every Precious and Fragile Thing (by Barbara Davis)

I have enjoyed previous books by the author, Barbara Davis. However, this one just did not do it for me. I did not like the character … at all!! … and the story did not pull me in and have me invested

After Paris (by Mary Ellen Taylor)

This book has a lot of very positive reviews. So let me preface mine by suggesting you read it to see if it appeals to you. This was just a horrible read for me. It was a lot of smut and explicit sexu
