This is the first book I’ve read in the Sarah Booth Delany series. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first 22 books. But I doubt I will go back and read the earlier ones. The characters are well developed. And, even, though a darker story (domestic violence), the author still manages to sneak in some whimsical moments throughout the pages.
