Every Bend in the River (by Emerson Ford)

This is the first book I have read by the author, Emerson Ford. However, it will not be the last! I will go back and read her debut novel, What the Silent Say, and am looking forward to reading Beyond the Frozen Sea when it is released in January 2027. I fell in love with Rosanna Waters. She was a free-spirited child who grew up to be a strong-willed, capable, amazing woman. This book will pull you into the story and the lives of the characters. From Rosanna to Callum, your heart will ache as you journey through the pages and experience life in the 1700s from being a carefree tomboy of a girl to the life of a Scottish indentured servant to serving with Washington during the Revolutionary War to homesteading in South Carolina. This historical fiction book is an exploration into love, loss, grief, sacrifice, hardship, strength, and determination. It is one I will not soon forget.
