Boy Underground (by Catherine Ryan Hyde)

This book did not appeal to me. I have read several books by the author and have enjoyed them. So I was sad that this one had so many issues that affected my pleasure in reading the book. This book does not work well in the historical fiction WWII genre. I also felt that Steven spoke as if he was living in the present day ... not in 1941. He sounded like a 14-year-old rather than a 90-year-old man. Was this really supposed to be a young adult novel? It is rare for me to give a 1 star rating. So for me to do so speaks a great deal about my opinion of a book. The characters were not well developed and the story line did not pull me in so that I was invested in the story. I was very disappointed.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
