Track Her Down ~ Bree Taggert #9 (by Melinda Leigh)
The Bree Taggert series is one of my favorites! Melinda Leigh never fails to pull me into the story and hold me captive. Between the murder mystery, the number of suspects, and the exotic animal aspect, I was absorbing every word as fast as I could flip the pages. Bree, Matt, Dana, and the rest of the gang in Grey’s Hollow, New York have begun to feel like family as I have devoured the books in this series. Great twists and turns and psychological suspense had me on the edge

Murder Island ~ Doc Savage #2 (by James Patterson/Brian Sitts)
I am enjoying the books in the Doc Savage series by James Patterson and Brian Sitts. Some of my recent reads of co-authored books by James Patterson have been less than stellar. However, this is one that will grab you from the first page and have you holding on tight as you are on a thriller ride to the end. Lots of action and great characters will have you invested in the story and anxiously waiting for the next one to be released. Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown, a

Spirit Crossing ~ Cork O'Connor (by William Kent Kruger)
I have enjoyed all of the books in the Cork O’Connor series by William Kent Krueger. So I was excited at the opportunity to read the latest book ... Spirit Crossing. Unfortunately, this was a major disappointment to me. It felt politically motivated and focused on the victimization of Native Americans instead of a mystery thriller component that I have come to expect in this author’s books. If I want to read about social justice and the woke moment, I will choose a nonfiction

Witness Protection (by Robert Whitlow)
The author, Robert Whitlow, has become one of my favorite Christian fiction authors. He is able to bring to life characters that are relatable, add in the taste of suspense, and thread a Christian focus while keeping you fully invested in the story. There are lots of twists and turns and moments of intense danger, but the intensity is handled well. I enjoyed the witness protection aspect of the book and the added triggers this created. This is definitely one to put on your to

Well, this was more than 12 hours of wasted time I will never get back. A lot of characters with very little development which meant I had no interest in their lives. Way too many things going on in the pages which meant it could not hold my attention. Two political. TDS flooded the pages and made it a slog through to the end. Nobody Heard a Thing (by Angela Henry)
The true-crime element of this book was intriguing. But I felt like I was plodding through the pages to get to the twists that pulled me into the story. A lot of characters and it was hard to remember who was who. I typically enjoy dual timeline books. But this one made it hard to keep track. An okay read for me. But there are enough very positive reviews, so it may appeal to you. Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for my advanced review copy. All opinions and though

The Perfect Catch (by Samantha Verant)
I have to admit that I struggled reading this book. It took a while for me to become interested in the storyline. But it did finally catch my interest. There were twists and a slow build in the tension of the book that helped keep my attention. An okay read but I am not sure whether the struggle to force myself to finish it was worth the time I spent in the book. Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for my advanced review copy. Women of a Promiscuous Nature (by Donna Everhart)
This is definitely an emotional read that will have you angry at how society treated women in the early 20th century. Their treatment at the institutions was horrendous and eye-opening. The fact that the book is based on real events is appalling. A very difficult and uncomfortable read, but also important that we learn about this type of unacceptable treatment of women in the hopes that history does not repeat itself. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for my advance

The Bookbinder's Secret (by A. D. Bell)
I love historical fiction books and especially those that are about books. The magical aspect of this particular story flowed well with the historical fiction focus. The characters are well developed and the mystery pulled me in and kept my interest. There is a touch of romance and I really wanted to discover where the relationship between Lillian and Harry would go. This book will take you on a journey into another time and place with mystery and intrigue. Thank you to NetGa

Liar's Creek ~ Clay Hawkins #1 (by Matt Goldman)
The synopsis of this book caught my interest and I looked forward to the character development. However, I could not connect with any of them. The story did not pull me in and hold my attention. I felt like it was a slow plod through the pages and I found myself struggling to finish the book. There appear to be many reviewers who really enjoyed the book. So I would encourage you to read it and decide for yourself if it appeals to you Thank you to NetGalley and Minotaur Books

The Neighbors are Watchng (by Aggie Blum Thompson)
I enjoyed this book though I had a difficult time getting interested in the story. It took a while for it to keep my attention. It was, however, drama personified. While I did not like some of the characters, that did not really affect my ability to stay invested in the story. A good book but did not have the wow factor I was hoping for. Hope Rises ~ Walter Nash #2 (by David Baldacci)
I am a huge fan of David Baldacci and have thoroughly enjoyed many of his series. Unfortunately, I go to excited to see he was releasing a new book that I did not notice it was part of the Walter Nash series. I did not enjoy the first book in the series and should not have committed myself to reading this one. That is on me. I did not like the characters, especially Nash. The story did not hold my attention and it took everything in me to finish reading it. There are, however

Full Bloom (by Francesca Serritella)
I have evidently been on a tangent with reading books with a fantasy and magical realism focus. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of books in that genre. I had really enjoyed the author’s previous book, Ghosts of Harvard, so I was looking forward to reading this one. Alas, I felt like I was on a ride through an ADHD experience. There were too many topics and none of them received the focus needed to make it a cohesive read. I will probably read future books by this author, but I

After reading this book, I have come to realize that military fiction is not a genre I enjoy. The beginning of the book was okay and did a good job of setting the scene and developing the primary characters. There was too much military technology for my taste and it made it hard for me to stay invested in the story. Thank you to NetGalley and Knopf for my advanced review copy. I am not against reading books that contain witches or have a paranormal aspect if the mystery and suspense is intense enough to grab my attention and keep me invested in the story. The premise of this book appealed to me and I loved the way the book pulled you into the story from the first page. When I first opened this book and started reading it, I almost put it down and declared it a DNF. However, I was determined to see it through to the end.
